 Hello again, Grammarland!

Here's a pic of the treat my 7th graders enjoyed yesterday. We just finished the novel Number the Stars, which is a beautiful novel about how the people of Denmark risked their lives to smuggle all but 50 of their 8,000 Jewish residents to safety during WWII. In our novel, one of our characters longs for a pink frosted cupcake, but cannot have one due to rationing because of  Nazi occupation. So we enjoyed one yesterday in honor of  5-year-old Kirsti.

7th grade:

Next week: MONDAY: one-pager reschedule date

Students must have the novel Hatchet , by  Gary Paulsen, by Wednesday. Students will receive a zero for each day they do not bring the book to class, starting Wednesday. Purchase the book from Amazon or from Barnes and Noble.

6th grade:

Great job on castles! Grades will be in Renweb by the end of next week, if not sooner.

Students must have the novel The Jungle Book, by Rudyard Kipling, by Wednesday.  Students will receive a zero for each day they do not bring the book to class, starting Wednesday. Purchase the book from Amazon or from Barnes and Noble.

6th  AND 7th grade: Masks are, unfortunately, part of our school days now. Please speak to your student about the importance of wearing masks properly.

Please pray for our teachers. Mrs. Durrell just lost her mom. Mrs. Ross just lost both grandparents in the span of a few weeks. Mrs, Mattice lost her husband a few weeks ago, and Mrs. Thomas lost her mom a few months ago. I'm so blessed to work in a place that honors prayer as the beautiful conduit that joins Heaven and Earth. Please know that I pray for my students, and I love hearing their prayers at school and watching them react to scripture and spiritual discussions.

Please pray for our school, and for our country.

I leave you with a few pics from around my little kingdom of castles. The 6th graders did a great job!

Blessings,

Mrs. Desjarlais
